My Mindful Morning

Discover Bodhiac coach and co-founder, Alice's morning routine.

Morning routines are all the rage and even though you might have seen enough of them on Instagram, they are worth the hype. What's important to remember is that you have to find the routine that works for you! Through trial and testing, you can find your unique routine that sets you up for the day ahead.

What works for you won't work for you neighbor and vice versa. You might like a meditation and reading, or you might prefer some breathwork and a meditation. Perhaps what works for you is a cold shower and dancing to your favorite song, or making your favorite tea whilst saying some affirmations. Whatever it is, there is a lot to say for creating and cultivating your own rituals and routine and sticking to it (coming from a place of love and making sure it doesn't feel like another to do on your checklist).

Benefits of a morning routine:

  • Prepares you for the rest of the day

  • Lowers stress

  • Increases productivity

  • Boosts energy levels

  • Helps you cultivate healthy habits

  • Improves confidence

  • Strengthens (mental) flexibility

7.30 am

I wake up and take 3 deep breaths in bed with one hand on my chest and one hand on my belly. I try to observe how my mind and body feels. Then I tip toe out of bed, chug a glass of water and make myself a decaf coffee or coffee alternative.

7.45 am

I'm on my yoga mat before 8am and swap between either a meditation, yoga flow or workout depending on how I feel. On sunny days, I also love going for a run or walk. Usually my morning workouts/sessions are anywhere between 10 - 45 minutes. If it's still dark outside, I love to light some candles to make it more cozy.

8.30 am

Shower and breakfast! Brekky is usually a smoothie bowl or warm oats (with a lot of peanut butter!).

9 am

I usually try to wait with opening my laptop and phone before 9 but am not always successful (hey, it's a journey!).

I start my work-day around 9am unless I teach a morning class which is usually on the earlier side. This means my morning routine becomes a compact version, with a 10 minute meditation or flow, and often a smoothie to go, or I have breakfast after I finish teaching.

Take a morning class with Alice on Bodhiac, like this 20 minute Morning Yoga Class , this 10 minute Morning Yoga Quickie, or this 8 minute Check-in Morning Meditation.
